PHOTOGRAPHY

     My interest in photography started in 1967 when I was in junior high school.  I asked my mother for a camera and she bought me a Minolta Hi-Matic 7s rangefinder 35mm film camera, used, at Sears Roebuck for $49.95.  I joined the school yearbook staff at the junior high and started taking photographs for it.

     In 1969, I photographed my first wedding.  A friend of mines sister was getting married and since I had a camera, I was "volunteered" to photograph it.  I took 10 rolls of 36 exposure Kodacolor-X film hoping to get a few good ones.  I used the Minolta rangefinder with a cheap, low power, on-camera flash unit.  The word then spread and I started photographing weddings on a regular basis.  I usually charged just enough to cover the film and processing and make a few bucks.

     After many weddings with the Minolta, I moved up to medium format with a Yashica Mat 124G and a more powerful flash unit.  More weddings followed and I saved enough for a pair of Mamiya C-330 medium format cameras.  I ended up purchasing a Hasselblad with lenses and accessories.  This took years to get and many weddings!
